    Good morning AC -

    (The Solemnity of Saint Joseph)

You can watch Mr. Naughton review today’s update here.

Today is DAY E. Students should complete work for Mods 7-1-2-3-4. Students should plan on about 45 minutes of work in each class. Please be sure to reach out to teachers with any questions or issues that arise, including the time required to complete work. All emails will be answered by 3pm each day. Teachers will be reaching out to students and families where work is not being submitted

Third quarter will end, as planned, on March 27th. Students should bear in mind, then, the importance of completing this work. While not ideal, this will provide some sense of normalcy to our school life. Failure to complete work will negatively affect student’s grades.

A reminder that tomorrow, 3/20, originally scheduled as a No School Day, WILL be an academic day to compensate for missed classes last Friday.

The point of closing schools and social distancing is to contain this virus. Students and families should stay home as much as possible. This is not the time to be getting extra work hours or gathering with others. Announcements:

    • The Catholic Parishes of Arlington are broadcasting a Daily Mass each day at 12pm on their Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/cparlingtonma/, please tune in for some solace during the suspension of in person celebrations of the Mass. You can view the Mass after it is finished as well.

    • Our tentative return date is April 6, 2020.

    • The MIAA has set a spring sports start date of April 27, 2020.

    • In consideration of CDC guidelines limiting the size of social gatherings, we are making the difficult decision to cancel the Spring Fling, Junior Prom, and Senior Prom. We are hopeful that we can find some alternative social gathering at a later date.

    • Please continue to sign up for courses for next year. April 3rd is the deadline to choose courses for next year. This deadline is incredibly important. Please reach out to teachers and guidance counselors with any questions. Completed worksheets can be returned when we all come back to school.

With the increased volume of coronavirus-related emails, comes an increase in malicious emails. Since many cybercriminals use a sense of urgency, emotional appeal, and social engineering to get people to share information, we thought you’d find the Tips to Avoid Coronavirus Fishing Scams by Consumer Reports article helpful. The article includes quick tips to help users sort good information from bad information and detect potential phishing emails.  Remember, cybercriminals count on email recipients being distracted, concerned, and motivated to get information. Please remember to remain vigilant and protect your data.

    Prayer:

This is a special day for the AC Community as we were founded by the Sisters of Saint Joseph and have been staffed by at least one Sister for our entire history (thank you, Sister Barbara!). If we were in session today, we would have gathered for Mass and heard from current Sisters about their work.

Today’s prayer, fittingly, is a prayer to Saint Joseph for protection:

    A prayer for protection:

St. Joseph, whose protection is so great, so strong, so prompt before the throne of God, I place in you all my interests and desires.

St. Joseph, do assist me by your powerful intercession and obtain for me from your divine son all spiritual blessings through Jesus Christ, our Lord; so that having engaged here below your heavenly power, I may offer my thanksgiving and homage to the most loving of Fathers.

St. Joseph, I never weary contemplating you and Jesus asleep in your arms. I dare not approach while he reposes near your heart. Press Him in my name and kiss his fine head for me, and ask him to return the kiss when I draw my dying breath. St. Joseph, patron of departing souls, pray for us. Amen

    Blessings,

    The Arlington Catholic Administrative Team
