We are off to a terrific start to our new school year at Arlington Catholic!  Everyone has settled into the routine of “back-to-school,” as we welcomed over 150 new freshman and transfer students and their families to the AC Community!

Now, we begin to turn our focus to the current 8th graders, who a year from now will become the incoming Class of 2024!  I wanted to share with you some tips for approaching the fall admissions season from a parent’s perspective:

    • Throughout this month and next, plan on attending area high school fairs, where you can visit with multiple schools at once to learn about their programs.  You’ll see the AC table everywhere you go!
    • Make a list of schools and their Open House dates so you can map out when to visit the schools of your choice.  The AC Fall Open House is Sunday, November 3 from 1-4pm.
    • Decide which schools your child will shadow, and book a date sooner rather than later.  Shadow days are a great way for a student to get a “day-in-the-life” view of a school; click here to register for a shadow day at AC.
    • Sign up for the High School Placement Test- this exam is used by all Catholic high schools as an admissions tool.  AC offers the exam on Saturday October 26 and Saturday November 16 at 8am; to register here

The admissions process can be daunting, and I’m sure you and your child will have lots of questions.  I am available every day, so if you’d like to schedule a tour, learn more about AC, or need help navigating the admissions process as a whole, please call me at (781) 777-7014, or email me at sbarrett@achs.net. I’d be glad to help!
