Hello Everyone:
Above all else, our thoughts and prayers are with your families, and all families affected by the COVID-19 crisis. These are truly difficult days to navigate for all of us, but we will get through them in time.
The past few days have been a whirlwind for us all. Last Thursday, the leadership team met to map out some ideas of how to respond to a potential alteration of school life if need be; by 1pm that same day, we needed to pivot from those preliminary plans towards a completely different reality. And, by 3pm that very day, our teachers left equipped with a solid game plan to provide online instruction so that our students could continue their academic pursuits at home while dealing with the necessary safety measures brought about by our state in response to this health crisis. By putting our students first, we were able to create a plan and put it into action, even during tumultuous times.
This week, our students have begun the process of online learning across all academic disciplines. As you know, families receive an email each day with news and notes, a schedule of classes “meeting” that day, as well as a daily prayer to keep everyone informed and to give everyone in our school community that spiritual connection that only a Catholic school provides. Our teachers have done a tremendous job creating new learning opportunities for their students while at the same time taking care of their own families, and have done so willingly, which is a true testament to the care and concern they bring to our students each and every day, whether remotely or within the normal classroom. All in all, we are working together to make these trying times as “normal” as possible, because at Arlington Catholic, it’s about creating the best experience for the students.
I want to share some additional news to help families at this time. We will be extending our registration deadline to Friday April 17th. Along with that, we are waiving our enrollment fee for next year. Families who have already enrolled will have their $350 enrollment fee applied to their tuition for the 2020-21 year. We hope that this will help alleviate some of the pressure families may have at this time. We ask you to please take time, sooner rather than later, to enroll for next year to help us plan staffing, etc.
While we have extended the enrollment deadline, Mr. Naughton has asked me to remind you that the deadline to choose courses for next year needs to be no later than April 3rd. It is very important that he has these hard numbers on hand so that we can begin the scheduling process.
There are so many great things happening at AC, but it’s in times like these that our best quality- our sense of community- shines through. I firmly believe we will come out of this stronger as teachers and students!
Best wishes,
Steve Barrett
